How to Use the WooCommerce Global Cart in Your WordPress Multisite Network
The global cart usage is pretty straightforward; however, below I describe the whole installation process step by step for you.
1. Network activate the plugin
First things first, once you have downloaded the plugin from the website, you need to upload it to your WooCommerce multisite network from the network dashboard, the “Plugins” page, and once uploaded, hit the “Network activate” link.

I am describing this step in such detail to emphasize that this plugin is only for WordPress Multisite networks, not for standalone stores.
2. Select stores that will have the shared cart
Once the plugin is activated, the question is – are you going to use the global cart for all WooCommerce stores within your multisite network?
If the answer is “Yes”, then no action is needed here.
But if the answer is “No”, then from the network dashboard, visit the “Sites > All Sites” page, choose some specific stores where you don’t want to have a shared cart, click the “Edit” link, and proceed to the “Global Cart” tab. On this page, you can deactivate the global cart for this specific store:

3. Decide what checkout page type you want to use
The global cart plugin allows you to choose one of the checkout page types:
- Any store,
- Single store (in that case, you will also need to choose a store that is going to be used for checkout).
Some of the differences are described below:
| Any store | Single store |
|---|---|
| Customers can create orders from a store they are currently in. | Customers will be redirected to the checkout page of a store selected in settings. |
| Probably, you will need to keep track of tax, shipping, coupons, and payment gateway settings across all the stores. | Since we are using only one store for checkout, it will be easier to handle shipping, coupons, tax, and payment settings within a single store. |
It can be easily configured in the plugin settings on the Settings > Network Global Cart page:
